This opening concert marks the beginning of the Mito International Music Festival 2026. Dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the death of composer Tōru Takemitsu, it brings together leading artists in contemporary music performance to explore the richness of his musical and artistic vision. Through the diverse sonorities of flute, shakuhachi, satsuma biwa, violin, viola, and piano, the program reveals the world of “sound and silence” that Takemitsu pursued throughout his life.
